A PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) center is a state-licensed facility that provides skilled nursing and therapy services in a daycare setting for medically complex children from birth through age 21.
Children with a medical condition requiring ongoing skilled nursing care or therapy (e.g., tracheostomy care, tube feedings, seizure monitoring) may qualify. Eligibility is typically determined through a physician’s referral and Medicaid or insurance approval.
No. While we offer a nurturing, structured environment similar to daycare, PPEC centers are equipped to meet medical needs with licensed nurses and therapists on-site throughout the day.
Cost & Insurance
Most PPEC services are covered 100% by Medicaid. We can help guide you through eligibility and enrollment.
Yes, we work with many private insurance plans. Please contact us to check coverage and authorizations.
Yes, our team can assist families in understanding and applying for Medicaid or obtaining a physician referral to initiate care.
Medical Care & Services
We offer skilled nursing care, medication administration, tracheostomy and ventilator care, feeding tube support, and monitoring of chronic conditions—customized to each child’s medical plan.
Yes. We offer Speech, Occupational, Physical, Behavioral, and Respiratory Therapy as part of each child’s care plan, with licensed therapists on-site.
Absolutely. We collaborate closely with your child’s primary care physician and specialists to ensure seamless, ongoing care.
Parents can access information instantly about their child(ren)’s classroom activities, schedule, and plans through our Skole Portal, which also provides access to family contact information and is where parents can update emergency contacts or the list of individuals allowed to pick up their child(ren). In addition to class specific information, all school events, notices, weekly newsletters from classroom teachers, monthly newsletters from specials teachers, Parent Association news and minutes, directory listings, school calendars, and photos live on the secure Parent Portal. In the higher grades at the Elementary School, parents can also see students’ homework assignments and test dates on the Parent Portal. In addition, we host numerous informational events for families throughout the year and send out Schoolroom Notes, our bi-annual all school newsletter, and our annual report.
Logistics & Transportation
Yes. We offer safe, door-to-door medical transportation to and from our center, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles and trained attendants
Most PPEC centers operate Monday through Friday, up to 12 hours per day. We also offer before- and after-school care.
Yes. We can create a custom schedule that fits your family’s needs, whether full-time, part-time, or after school.
You may drop your child off in the school driveway as early as 7:30 am, 20 minutes before school. Kindergarten students meet and line up on the Kindergarten playground before school. Supervision is provided on the Kindergarten playground every morning.
We recommend that parents walk their Kindergarteners to the playground for at least the first few days of school. Park on the street or in the lot at St. James Church and walk your child into the kindergarten playground.

Day-to-Day Life & Safety
Each day includes medical monitoring, therapy sessions, developmental activities, meals/snacks, and social play—all in a safe, engaging environment.
Our center follows strict infection control protocols, emergency preparedness plans, and nurse-to-child ratios to ensure the highest standards of safety and care

Enrollment & Referrals
Start by contacting us for a consultation. We’ll help gather your child’s medical documentation and work with your physician and insurance to begin services.
Yes. Physicians, hospitals, case managers, and social workers can refer children to our PPEC center. We also accept direct parent inquiries.
Enrollment can take a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on medical clearance, documentation, and insurance processing. We expedite wherever possible.
Additional Questions
Yes. We support dual enrollment where children can attend school and receive PPEC services before or after school, based on their medical plan.
We currently operate on weekdays only. However, we provide holiday care planning and collaborate with families to support consistent care.
